Sand filters require refurbishing every 5-10 years. Bobbin wound filters will need at least a media change approximately every 7 years. Laterals and internal surfaces should ideally be assessed at the same time as media replacements.
Steel filter linings degrade over time and corrosion takes place. Ultimately, steel filters will need relining approximately every 5-7 years.
Internal surfaces are shot blasted, and surfaces relined with epoxy coatings.
Delivery systems and bell mouths will also require periodic replacement to ensure that the filtration plant is operating efficiently.
Microfiltration is fast becoming preferred as it has great longevity whilst saving significantly on energy and water usage.
